Linda's Story

My first collection of poetry , The Green Chair, will be available April 1, 2021 on Amazon. I am so happy to have now be a published author - one of my dreams. I am hoping for more!! 2020 had been a confusing year for me as I am sure it has been for all of us. I am happy to say that I have been staying well and and staying home for the most part. Just finished a painting project in my home and am happy to have that off my plate. i cancelled music concerts and trips and am enjoying summer in Cheyenne, I have book coming out in the fall from Winter Goose Publishers. It is a book of collected poems and will work on my next book this summer and fall - hope to have a novel out this time but we will see. Poetry is something that I have always done and it is both exciting and frightening to have it published. I hope all are staying home and staying well in this year of the pandemic - Have had a wonderful 2019 - a spring trip down the Amazon which was something I have always wanted to do. A family reunion in Estes Park in July and most of August in the British Isles - love Scotland & Ireland and want to go back & stay for a few months next year. Looking forward to a quiet fall at home & then working the Wyoming Legislature again at the first of the year. I am so grateful to be healthy although have a continuous battle with my weight & food as I like to cook & eat both. For the first time in many years I have no animals as I lost my English Bull dog last year - right now I am traveling too much & plan on more trips as long as the $$ hold out. Always love to hear from Aurora folks & still have 2 of my best friends from the old neighborhood . April 2018 - just got back from a Roads Scholar trip to Cuba which was very interesting but not a luxury tour - Cuba has a fascinating history and people who are very enthusiastic about meeting Americans. I am working on finishing a book that will have a lot of Denver in it and will be hoping to find a publisher this year - I have had some health challenges this year so will try to learn to take it easy this summer and have more fun and less work. Best wishes for a wonderful summer! 2017 - Finally got around to reading my profile and realized it was woefully out of date. I am partially retired now -- working as a court commissioner for Laramie County District Court and doing some writing both editorial and fiction. It is taking me awhile to settle in to my new life but I am finally starting to enjoy it. The last few years have been a struggle with an (unplanned) closing of the ACLU office in Wyoming - the job I loved was gone. My Mother was very ill for a ...Expand for more
few years and I made many trips on I-25 to Denver. She passed in December of 2014 and I finally sold the house in Golden this year. It has been a difficult time with many changes but all is well now. I took my step-son on a river cruise in Europe this October for his 21st birthday and we had a wonderful time. I also attended the Aurora Central reunion this summer and it was great -- I saw many old friends and had a chance to reconnect. I am still working as a lobbyist in the Wyoming Legislature and will do that at least one more year in 2018 -- I ran for the state legislature in 2015 but lost and am debating another run in 2018. It was a lot of work but a lot of fun too and I met some wonderful people in the campaign. I have an aging English Bulldog and now a new kitten that was abandoned and am almost done with redoing my house which I love. The neighborhood in Cheyenne is great and while I still love Denver and get there a lot it is always wonderful to come home to the slower pace in Cheyenne. I wish everyone a wonderful holiday season and a great 2018. I am currently still working on a house that I started 10 years ago -- I am single and have a lot of animals and wish I had the time and space for more. I have a great job that I really like going to in the mornings and that hasn't always been true. I have been sober for a lot of years so am pretty healthy and strong. I have never been much of an athlete but do love yoga and practice a lot. I would love it if old friends remembered me as fun and funny but it is more likely that they remember me as pretty wild - which I was. I don't regret much today as my life has turned out to be very interesting and never dull -- I remember Aurora and the people there with a lot of fondness. I went to Kenton Elementary, William Smith, West Junior High and Aurora Central. I lived a block from the Handy Store and that was the first place I was allowed to go by myself. I have a son who lives in Colorado with his wife and lots of cars, jeeps and motorcycles. I also have a godson that I have had the joy of helping raise who is now 16 years old and just got his first car. My Mother is 89 years old, still lives in her own home and still lives in Colorado. Until recently she has been very active playing the piano in a band, playing bridge and working as a volunteer. Unfortunately she has not been well the past year but seem to be back on the mend now. I keep busy with my house, my job, reading, writing, movies and music. I still have several old friends from Aurora that I see and really enjoy those old friendships. I would love to hear from old friends --
