Linda's Story

Love this age of technology in keeping in touch! Can you imagine, us, back then, with this technology? ...and cell phones? Mr. Hildebrand would have just quit. I do hope all are well and happy and some, if not all, of your dreams have come true. As for me, I married Bob Worthy after graduation and we had a son, we moved to Phoenix and had a girl. Sadly, Bob was killed by a drugged/drunk driver before our daughter was born. In 1972 I moved back to Oklahoma, to the land of GREEN. Phoenix is just tan and brown all year round and it was wonderful seeing all those green fields flying into Will Rogers. I was home. My folks had moved to Ada OK so lived there a bit and went to East Central College there, but learned I was a city girl so moved back to good ole OKC. Enrolled in Xray school at Rose State College and worked part time at my old high school job for Billie Field at Billie's Tastee Freez at SW 59th and May. (Southsiders having a flashback yet?) Wonderful boss for a friend, good hours and it paid the bills. I worked at Hillcrest Hospital as an Xray tech for a bit and met my current husband, Roger Phillips, in 1975. His job took us to Weatherford then to Midwest City where we had our youngest daughter and his son by a...Expand for more
previous marriage joined our family. Then we took our family to Moore OK. Great and happy time of our lives. I was working for H&R Block during tax season and at a bookkeeping office. In short, we raised four great kids who have given us 7 grandchildren. Did I say the grandkids were wonderful too? They are. I don't have great grandchildren yet, but we have plenty of time for that after the grandkids have finished school and settled in good jobs. After leaving tax work behind, I went to work for the Department of Public Safety and worked with some fantastic people and retired last year after 27 years. I held the position as the accounts payable manager early on then as the payroll manager the last 14 years. It was a great job. Miss it already, except for the stress. I thought retirement would be bliss, but I am finding retirement may not be for me right now, so am looking for a part time job (if someone knows of any). Not in payroll though. A job in accounts payable or some cushy, fun job would be just fine. I would never turn down the cushy jobs. ( : Would love to hear from any former classmates. Hope all of you are well and happy. Until we get to meet again, have fun, make good memories, and stay out of trouble.
