Linda's Story

Funny! The answer to the question, What would surprise you all about me, may not surprise you at all. For me, I think I was the last person to really know me at all. I will tell you,... that that ,has probably been my biggest accomplishment since leaving high school. Finally, I can say I know who Linda is! :-) How do you tell your story from the past 40 years? Do I write what I want you all to think? I could make up stuff, or only include the really great things that I have accomplished in my life, or the wonderful things that have happened to me, because in reality there have been many of those! Or, do I only share the mistakes that I have made, and the bad things that have happened to me and my family in my life, because in reality, there have been many of those too! I guess to tell you how I am today would be the best thing to share. It is becaues of all those things that have happened in my life, both good and bad, that I am here today on this Classmates.com, 40 years older, and hopefully alot wiser than when I was last among you all. .....I will log on and continue more later. One thing that will be very telling, is to tell you that I have only been on a computer for the last 2 months. That, in itself, says alot........ L I have been married to Ron.... in October it will be 29 years. We have 2 daughters, and I had 2 daughters from a previous marriage that lasted from 1971-1977. I now have 4 grandchildren. This part is very hard for me to say, but I lost a grand-daughter, the beautiful little girl, ^Kayla^, that's on my lap in the picture. She was diagnosed with neuroblastoma (cancer) stage 4, two days before Christmas 2006, and battled it like a true warrior,at Children's Hospital in Denver. She lost her battle at 15 months this past December 2nd. It is still so fresh, and painful. I will tell you, that I have found you can get through anything with faith, and the 15 months we had with her were a real gift and life a...Expand for more
ltering for my whole family! I never finished college, and aside from working occasionally, mainly part-time... fulltime when I was a single mom, I have chose the old- fashioned route of home-maker and mom, and yes, I do bake cookies. Now, I'm a NaNa, which is the most rewarding of job titles, I think, of all!! Those of you who REALLY knew me, probably are saying, "that fits"! I believe it has been a real gift, and aside from the times I spend feeling guilty about it and wondering what other people are thinking, I have loved it. It is me. I try to use my time, especially now, giving of myself and my tme to those who need it. My road has left me with some personal experiences that I can use, to help others who are struggling also. My daughter has set up a Foundation in honor of my grand-daughter that I plan on becoming active in, trying to bring awareness to the public about Chilhood Cancer. I live in Ellicott City now, and who knows, but plan on staying here. I have lived in Saratoga Springs, New York for 2 1/2 years, and Colorado for 7 years, but aside from that have pretty much stayed close to home. I have found that is important to me! My children , and grand-children also live near-by, other than my daughter and son-in-law who just lost their baby. They live in Colorado Springs. :-( I will admit that is hard for me. I too, like other people whose stories I have read ,look forward to our reunion in November. 40 years out, WOW, still can't believe that I am that old. I'm glad that I know you all are that old too! :-) ... I am anxious to meet the people you have become. It was so much about the outside back then. Having had children, and trying to explain to them, that when you get out of high school people change, clicks don't exist , clothes don't matter, etc, etc, has given me the oppurtunity to start believing it myself. Until then, I have rambled enough......something I am always working on, ......Linda out.....
