Linda's Story
After all these years, I still don't know what I want to do when I grow up! After finally finishing college at SUNY Geneseo, I tried teaching junior high and I was terrible, so tried lots of other things like living in Atlanta, working in a bank, waitressing, moving back to Seneca Falls, going to graduate school and working at SUNY Oswego, working for youth employment programs and for the college.
Moved to the state of Washington in 1979 to work at a community college, met and married my husband Paul Van Hine is 1983, had our son Josh in 1986 and Alex in 1988. Now managing a large federal grant for our county focusing on violence prevention and mental health issues for kids. Do lots of volunteering (don't seem to know what "No" means!)

I always wanted to be a teacher when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was a good idea. As it turns out, they were wrong.
Women who succeed despite incredible odds against them have always been my heros. Whether it is domestic or sexual violence, cancer, poverty, sexism - those experiences seem to make some women stronger and wiser than all of us, and I learn from them every day.
The one person from my past who I'd most like to see again is Jim Wade, because I still worry about him.
One of my husband and my passions is following the Seattle Seahawks football team (we have been season ticket holders for about 18 years) and watching our sons play sports. Alex is now playing for a semi-pro football team and still loving it and we still love watching him play.
