Linda Self (Rodgers):  

The year after graduation, I attended ETSU in Commerce for one year. After that year, I worked in downtown Dallas at the Federal Bldg for the Dept of Hud until I ran into an old boyfriend from the class of 1968 and we married in May of 1972 and were divorced 26 years later. I also worked later down the line for a couple of small companies and then was a secretary at my church (FBC Plano) to Trudy Uland's mom, Zadabeth. In 1976, we moved to The Colony and I had to give up the church job because I moved out of Plano In 1978 I went to work for Merico in Carrollton and worked until my daughter was born in Feb of 1980 (and took a 3 year hiatus). Merico askedme to come back in 1983 which continued thru several company buyouts and spinoffs (Anheuser Busch bought Merico and moved the company to St. Louis in 1994, changed our name to Earthgrains and spun us off as an independent company, then sold out to Sara Lee (which was our downfall). Finally after 25 years, I was included in one of several large layoffs in June, 2008. The job market was terrible in St Louis and it was my opportunity to go home to Texas.
