Linda's Story

Linda is from Steubenville, Ohio. Linda's schools include Steubenville High School. Linda later attended Ohio Uni (Applied Music) . Linda works(ed) at Retired, Retired, Retired. (Former nurse-what can I say? I'm a "Renaissance Woman.) Linda's interests include Animals, volunteering. Music: Easy listening, Home of the Blues, Anything Mozart. Books Linda likes include To Kill a Mockingbird, Steinbeck, So Many I Don't Know Where to Start. Movies Linda likes include Mamma Mia!, Iron-Jaws Angels, Slap Shot. TV shows Linda likes include Animal Planet, Who Do You Think You Are?, Law & Order SVU & Criminal Minds.. One of Linda's favorite quotes is:""I refuse to have a battle of wits with an unarmed person", "Insanity is doing the same thing over & over & expecting different results", "What part of ( fill in the blank) don't u understand?" "Those who forget Hx. are doomed to repeat it." "Veangence is mine saith the Lord.....but sometimes he subcontracts!", "Thank God for dead Phelpses!", "Sometime today?" "Somebody has to graduate at the BOTTOM of their ( fill-in-the-blank) class."". More about Linda:"Don't know what to write-duh!~ Just suffice it to say I'm an Australian-American. Hey! Isn't everybody some bloody kinda ****-American? Am retired & loving it esp. since I just signed up for S.S. I was born a strong empath, but have toughened up over the yrs. I have a lot of righteous indignation at wrongs & want to fix them-esp. to animals & children. I don't trust people who run hot & cold. I LIKE mentally challenged people either through lack of intelligence or through mental illness. I am morphing back into the persona I used to be now that I'm back in Ohio shedding SOME of the caustic tongue & attitude I accquired living over East.". Addendum: O.K. Now after all the fluff of the above, the truly serious part of my life. Many know I was adopted & yes, I'm one of "those" who found my birth parents many yrs. ago. It was like being gay coming out today, but I had support from a wonderful Aunt (Hilda-Pop's sister). It's a long story, but my birthparents were childhood sweethearts from Brisbane, Austr...Expand for more
alia. Their names were Jean & Gordon. He went off to war, she met & married a "Yank" when his ship was shot out under him & he was believed dead.. Yank came back to Follansbee & Gordon returned; they took up where they left off until a neighbor let Gordon know Jean was married; it hit the fan. By the time he rang her 2 wks. later, she'd gotten on a boat to the U.S...................pregnant with me. Imagine an Aussie in dirty steel mill town Follansbee married to a Sicilian whose father was in the rackets albeit small time. The Dr. who delivered me informed her husband that I couldn't possibly be his since I was a full-term baby. She thought she was signing temp. papers for foster care, but it turned out to be permanent. There's tons more, but I found Jean in Miami in 1978 & went to Australia-alone-in 1981 & found Gordon. I have half-sibs. & we went on vacation with Jean & her husband many times over the yrs. & they came up to visit often. Gordon came over 3 times to visit & the last time, I reunited him & Jean at my house. So, my life is a major soap opera. I know I should get on the story as time is running out, & I'm beginning to understand that our generation isn't going to live forever as we thought we would. So, IF I get my book written & published, can you all buy a copy to justify all the work I will have to get into organized form? Just kidding.. We've retired back here in Ohio & my 2 sons-Randall & his partner, Bob & Craig & wife Cortney are a large part of our lives even though we are very spread out. It truly is my best blessing to have the family I have, esp. since I had no sibs. growing up. Hope to see some of you at our upcoming 50th. Blessings to All! Lin Addendum 2: As of August 23rd. of last yr., I now have a new son-in-law as Randy & Bob were married. We were in Australia visiting family when we got the good news that they were to be married & I could hardly stand to wait for the plane home. Bob is a wonderful person & we couldn't ask for a better life--partner for our eldest. Life truly IS good, even with the bad to make us realize how wonderful it really is. Cheers!
