Linn's Story
Where has the time gone? - 30 plus years to reflect on since those High school days at CKM...so here is what I have been doing...
After High School I attended Cosumnes River College as a student in Early Childhood Education (way back when the college just opened!!), I always wanted to be a Kindergarten/ Nursery School Teacher. My career journey has led me through a variety of educational experiences and degrees ÃÂÿ all related to education of young children. I received my BA degree in Liberal Studies/ Elementary Ed. from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and MA degree in Education/Early Childhood from Sac State.
As an employee of Los Rios Community College District for over 36 years, I have been as a Associate Teacher, Lead Teacher and Director of the Child Development Centers at American RIver College and CRC. I also was an Adjunct Professor at the regional colleges from Sierra College, Los Rios colleges and Delta College, and tried Division Dean at CRC for a few years, and then for the past 8 years returned to teaching as Professor and current Department Chair of the Early Childhood Education pro...Expand for more
gram. Cosumnes River College has been my ÃÂÿhomeÃÂÿ for the past 20 years and it is a pleasure to work at this high quality and innovative institution!.
I have also served as an active leader in local and statewide committees related to community college early childhood initiatives and child and family advocacy.
I have recently retired from the United States Coast Guard Reserve as a Chief Warrant Officer in Personnel Administration and this 32 year experience has had a positive impact in my personal and professional life.
As a single parent of two grown sons in their mid 20ÃÂÿs, they are finding their path in life as they pursue their career. My oldest son, Adam, was born with developmental delays and mental health issues and has been able to live independently for the past 4 years. My youngest son, Warren just graduated from the Calif. Regional Fire Academy and is looking forward to getting a job as a firefighter very soon.
In my spare time (which I need to make more time for because I work too much), I enjoy attending Scottish Highland Games with my parents and friends.
