Lionel's Story

Life Hi, I guess you're here to know what's happened since those days at STHS. Well here goes. I worked in the oil field for a few years and then decided to try my hand at commercial shrimping. I worked as deckhand for about a year then bought my own boat, the Eva Marie. I kept it almost 30 years and sold it in October of 2007. It was a good way to make a living up until the last 8 or 10 years. Between the government regulations, foreign shrimp flooding our markets and ever increasing fuel costs it wasn't too much "fun" anymore. In November I went to school and received my Captain 100 Ton Masters license so I plan on starting a new vocation but still on the water. I’ll be burning someone else’s high priced fuel though. ught I’d have lived my life without having anything to do with them. A friend showed me a navigational software program that could be interfaced with a gps onboard my vessel and I was hooked. Since then I’ve built a few from the mobo up and I’m almost always doing something to either some of the ones I own or for friends. I enjoy learning what makes them “tick” and to see if I can configure them to my desires. I recently dual booted a laptop and desktop running Vista/XP, that was a challenge but I won. I lived in Chauvin until 1992 then moved to Erath Louisiana, a small town south of Lafayette. I married a lovely woman from here in 1995 and have been happily married since. I guess the saying “the third times a charm” holds true. Donna and I built our home in the winter of 98. We enjoy fishing and gardening for outdoor hobbies. We occasionally visit the Mississippi coast for a lot of shopping and a little casino fun. We’ve attended a great church in Abbeville, Harvest Time Tabernacle since before we got married.
