Paul's Story
After I graduated from Cortez in 1978, I went to Southwestern Bible College where my brother Joel had been since he graduated from Cortez in 1976. In 1979 I met the woman of my dreams, Lisa Joy Fetters, and we were married in October of 1980. We have three children, Carrisa, Jonathan and James. Carrisa was born in 1982, Jonathan in 1985 and James in 1986. Starting in 1979, while I was still in Bible College, I began to serve as a Youth Pastor at Northwest Community Church in Phoenix, Arizona (on 43rd Ave. just south of Bell Rd.). I served as a pastor at Northwest Community Church until 1988. In May of 1988 I was given an opportunity to attend graduate school in Portland, Oregon. I graduated with my Master of Divinity Degree from Western Seminary in Portland, Oregon.
In January of 1990, my family and I moved back to Phoenix where we planted a new church in, what was at the time, the far edges of northwest Peoria (81st Ave. and Thunderbird Rd.). I was Sr. Pastor of New Life Community Church for 14 years. On a side note, in December of 2000, just after I had turned 40, I ran my first (and only) marathon in Tucson. I had set a goal to run a marathon before I turned 40. I ended up running it a month after my 40th birthday.
After spending 25 years in the pastorate, in 2004 I transitioned from pastoring at New Life to become president of a new international leadership training organization named Global Training Network. For the past five years my wife and I have traveled to many different countries around the world to train pastors and leaders. I thoroughly enjoyed pastoring for 25 years and now my wife and I are enjoying serving pastors and leaders around the world.
My wife and I now live in far northwest Peoria in the community of Vistancia. Our youngest son, James, has been married for three+ years. Our oldest son, Jonathan, is a full time student at Gra...Expand for more
nd Canyon University where he is majoring in Christian Ministry. Our daughter, Carrisa, graduated from Phoenix Seminary with her Masters Degree in May (2008). Prior to getting her Masters Degree she graduated from the University of Arizona with a degree in Elementary Education. Carrisa got married (May 24, 2008) to a wonderful young man, Josh Kienzle. Carrisa also works as Global Training Network's International Liaison and Administrative Assistant to our U.S. based staff. Our son James and his wife Jessica live in Eugene, Oregon where James works as a Graphic Designer and Jessica works part time at Starbucks. Prior to moving to Eugene, James and Jessica attended Calvary Chapel Bible College. James also served as an intern on the staff of Calvary Chapel Prescott (AZ).
Global Training Network has now grown to a staff of over 75 full time national and international staff members. We are actively involved in 36 countries of the world currently. I now spend much of my time giving leadership to the staff and entire organization as well as speaking on GTN's behalf around the United States. My brother, Joel, after serving as a pastor for 25+ years, joined the staff of GTN and now serves as our Vice President. Joel and his family live in the Seattle, Washington area, and have lived their since 1989.
My older sister (Ramona - or "Mona" as she was known in High School) lives with her husband (Tony) in Dalton, GA (two hours north of Atlanta). Tony and Ramona have been married for 28 years. They have two grown children, Craig, a graduate of Georgia Tech and Carrie, a graduate of University of Georgia. Tony works as a computer engineer for Shaw Industries. My younger sister (Muriel) lives with her husband (Nate) in Ashland, OR. They have been married for 22 years and have four children ranging in age from 12 to 20. Nate serves as Sr. Pastor of Ashland Bible Church.
