Lisa's Story
Life
You can chat with me on unicard2000 at Yahoo. Its 2008! My posted Photo was taken January 3, 2008. I'm single again.. Its cheaper for me this way.
I'm now 30 miles East of Memphis TN. Left Kaplan Dec 2005 after one year to work in TN & bought a new house. BACK to Kaplan in 2005 after 24yrs. I never had any children - Mother Nature didn't allow it. I've lived in The Netherlands for two years, 81-83. Amersfoorte Holland. I have also lived a few months in Norway, 1996. In the United States I was raised in Louisiana until the age of 19. I have also lived in Washington State (Northwest) for eight years and was a volunteer EMT/Firefighter, Phoenix AZ for six years, Killeen TX, Overland Park KS, Grain Valley MO, Memphis TN, Millington TN, Munford TN and Denton TX. Its now 2003 and the past five years it has been my occupation that has moved me around. I wouldn't change the experiences for anything, well except maybe for a million dollars ;)
I currenlty own a motorcycle and I ride as often as I can, in the winter I wear my leather jacket and chaps and am enjoying life. I have known the joys of marriage and the disappointments of divorce and SURVIVED. I have volunteered at the Veteran's Administration Hospital in Memphis TN, just to try an bring joy to someone's life, if only for a few minutes. The men that I worked with were either wheelchair bound or bed ridden. I have heard world war II stories, met Vietnam Veterans, Desert Storm Veterans and talked to the most recent of veterans that have met with misfortunate accidents. Please love your family and treasure what you have in your heart. Material things come and go, but family and friends are forever! Take Care, Lisa (AKA Sunshine)
School
Elementary School was hard for me. My favorite Teacher was in 2nd grade and I understand she eventually went on to become the Kaplan Elementary Principle. Junior High was a confusing time - it was the end of segregation....Expand for more
I remember going roller skating and playing softball, also riding my ten speed through town. I remember wanting to be a Bank Teller. I have taken college courses in all of my moving around. And once I was in Washington State, I was over qualified for a bank teller position. I really didn't like school much and couldn't wait to see the world. If only I knew then what I know now.....With all the higher education classes and Technical training I received I am now a Project manager for Implementation of Corporate Circuits for one of the largest Communication Companies.
Military
I didn't actually join a U.S. Military Branch of service. I did live with and around the military.
First it was the Airforce in the Netherlands. It was a very interesting time, all I could tell someone is that it was different. We didn't have cable TV. We lived above a beauty shop. Friday Nights was like TACO nights at our place. We had about 3 to 5 GIs come over. We listen to Albums, played cards and drank beer, lots of beer! Or we took trips to Soest for Shwarmers. The F-16s were incredible fighter airplanes. I worked at the Airforce Base Exchange. I loved it there. I was the girl with the long hair that worked in the AAFES exchange "DEFERRED PAYMENT PLAN" Office from 81-82. It was all manual then, now its all electronic.
2nd was the Army in Killeen Texas. There everything was brown. The land was brown in the summer time due to lack of rain, the men were brown because of wearing the brown Army issued fatigues. The Army Tanks and Hummers were all brown as well. There are alot of GOOD people, both military and cilvian in Killeen, and this is where I started my current career.
3rd was the Navy in Millington Tennessee. The Navy men were of a different breed. I have always looked up to and appreciated what these men and women sacrifice for the American people. The Navy is a VERY PROUD group of people. And they should be.
GOD BLESS AMERICA
