Lisa's Story
October 2013: Find me on FaceBook. My two boys continue to set the family pace so FB is how I stay connected with family and friends!!
Anthony (18 yo - high school senior) and Zachary (15 yo - high school sophomore) attend Antelope High School after graduating (K-8) from the California Montessori Project, a Public Charter School in Sacramento, CA (website: cacmp.org) where I also work as the Director of Human Resources. Both boys are at the top of their class, great leaders, great athletes, and fine young men.
Both boys still play baseball and also participate in a variety of other school and extra-curricular activities including National Honor Society. The transition to high school sports has allowed my husband and I to relax a little and focus on the luxury of watching from the stands. I have taken up photography and my work is on display at my website: EveryPictureTellsAStory.smugmug.com. I spend a lot of time at the gym with my kiddos as it is one of the only times I get to have with them anymore and a great opportunity to converse and stay caught up on their lives. The rest of my free time is spent helping my oldest prepare for college. Seems the application process is practically a full-time job on its own!! This year is ...Expand for more
bittersweet as I stop and consider all our activities from the perspective of having one child away at college next year, but also making these memories the best ever.
Professionally, I am in my twelfth year of service here at CMP and still really enjoy my job. My pastor says that educators are responsible for preparing the next generation of believers. What a fullfilling calling!! Serving the Charter School Community has been a great opportunity to combine my previous business, HR, legal and legislative training. Besides CMP, I also teach Parent Education classes and Teacher Professional Development programs on a regular basis. Working with my adult learners is what keeps me energized ~ and 2013-2014 has already started off another very busy year!!!
As always, while I think a lot about old friends, there just never seems to be enough time in the day to keep up regular connections. Hopefully, if you are reading this update, we will run in to each other on Face Book. In the meantime, as we approach that time of year where we traditionally send holiday wishes, I ma thankful that good friends remain in our hearts all year long. Blessings to you from the Coates Clan. We hope to hear from you soon!!
