Lisa's Story
Has it really been 30 years? It seems like just yesterday that we were all running around the halls of Durand Area High School, going to football games on Friday night, hanging out with our friends, and not thinking much about where we would be in five years; let alone 30 years.
Well, after graduation on June 6, 1979, I had about 3 weeks of free time before I went back to school. I began training at Saint Joseph's School of Radiology in Flint. If I remember correctly, Debbie Gunsell began her training at Hurley about the same time. I spent the next two years commuting back and for from Durand to Flint and graduated in July of 1981.
After graduation I moved to Bowling Green, Kentucky where I met my best friend and lifelong companion Curtis. We moved to Georgia and returned to Durand on November 17, 1984 to get married in the church that I grew up in St. Mary's Catholic Church. We are getting ready to celebrate our 25th Wedding Anniversary this November. Wow, I can't believe how time has flown by. We are currently back in Bowling Green where we have been since 1992. No children; just two beautiful felines named Thomas and Natasha.

long way, I felt that something was missing in my life.
Just before my father passed away in 2002, he made me promise that I would take on a new venture and fulfill this desire that I had to further my education and get an Accounting Degree. I kept my promise to him and four and a half years later I walked across the stage with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Accounting. It was a proud moment for me because I know that dad was watching me and bursting with pride at my accomplishment.
I am still working full-time in the medical field for now; however, since earning my degree, I am also a Certified Identity Theft Risk Management Specialist working with a company called Pre-Paid Legal Services where we provide affordable protection for life's legal and identity theft issues. I just love the fact that I can do this around my current schedule and eventually full-time. It was a great career opportunity for me to find.
For those of you that know me, I would love to reconnect and fill in the blanks that all of these years have made. For all of you that may know my name from school, or those that knew my dad who was the Maintenance Man for the Durand School System for 20+ years, I would love to network and find friends that have been a missing part of my life.
