Lisa's Story
Life
Since leaving high school, I've married and am now divorced. I have a 16 year old son who just got his drivers license...so I'm feeling quite OLD now!
I've been working at the same company for the past 10 years and I also have my own small side business that I run after work. I'm also in the process of getting my PI license, HOPEFULLY!
I run a website for people who are divorced or divorcing called MAFIA - Mothers and Fathers in Alliance. It started out just helping people with matters of not getting child support, but turned into a more broad spectrum to include ALL divorced people having issues with child support, or with their ex, parenting time, etc.
After High School, and after having my son, I went to Detroit College of Business and got my degree in Business Admin with my concentration in law. The law has always fascinated me, and true crime stories are my "vice." I can read 2-3 of those a week. I drive my bf crazy.
I moved from Shelby to a couple of different cities. Couldn't figure out where I wanted to be, I suppose. Now I am in Ortonville, and i love it there. I was in Marine City before that. Loved it there, too, but O-ville is different. MC had too many "busybodies" who needed to know your business. O-Ville is much more relaxed than that. One of the guys from our city recently died in the war, and seeing the outpouring of support from the city, that our "hometown here" died is just amazing. Makes you appreciate life, and makes you appreciate that an entire community can pull together like that.
I live with my bf. We bought the house together two years ago, and we're in the country with about 5 acres, a pond, and ...Expand for more
our own private lake. Only 3 houses on the road have access to it, but nobody else can get back to it thru the woods except us really. So we're pretty much the only ones who use it. We fish a lot, and catch some HUGE ones, suitable for mounting. It's relaxing to be able to come home from work and walk out your backyard and enjoy. We have company almost every weekend. People say they love to relax, and feel as if they've been on vacation after coming by. I love that our friends think that...and I love our friends.
My bf's family is fantastic. The most loving and generous people you've ever met.
We have 5 dogs between us (me & my bf). When we met, I had 3 boys and he had 3 girls, then we moved in together and had a 4-legged furry "Brady Bunch." But, I lost one of mine since then to epilepsy. He was my special guy...a Golden Retriever. I have another golden now, a husky, a black lab, yellow lab, and a chow chow. The first two are mine, last 3 are his. We adore them to no end. They all have such great personalities.
My son is my "gift." He's what gave me the motivation to go to college, so I could provide for him. He's the one who keeps me sane. We have an AWESOME relationship, my son and I. We are "best friends" yet he KNOWS I won't take any crud from him, so he best stay good. That means, "Don't do any of the things mom did when SHE was in high school!" I can't believe he has 2 more years before graduating. He's gotten mostly A's in school, has won tournaments in math against 13 other schools, and wants to go into engineering. I'm very very proud of him.
Well, that's about it. I hope everyone is doing great, and I wish everyone well! :)
