Lisa's Story
Life
Living in Florida with my husband and 3 daughters is...hectic...and HOT! Man, is Florida HOT! But the heat doesn't stop me from being a Girl Scouts leader, or from running my own business, Remembories Digital Scrapbooking. (My life's plans were so much calmer and ordinary, maybe, than my real life turned out to be!) And while I would kill to have real seasons again (or at least enough cold weather to kill Florida's mutant bugs!), I wouldn't trade this life for any in the world.
School
I was so vanilla in high school, and not too much different through most of college really. But I remember my favorite teacher...Mr. Malmquist, my orchestra teacher at HEHS. He was the first teacher to ever see in me the potential for something greater. And he pushed me, hard, to achieve in ways I never thought I could and was amazed to ever see. He made me believe in myself, above all obstacles, a belief I still cling to during tough times. And for that, I will always be unf...Expand for more
ailingly thankful.
College
CLASE movie nights which taught to to always preview a movie before showing it ("I've never seen THAT before."). Senior year at Mugsy's (Who knew my advisor would be there?). Hosting the Tau Lambda guys from Rose-Hulman (APO) on our bedroom floors (What's vis? Never heard of it!). Playing cards until 6 am (Saga opens in half an hour...time for one more hand of spades!) Late night road trips (Mr. *(&^#%& Donut in Decatur, IL). And my first place away from home (that house over on Empire St.). PRICELESS
Workplace
Who would've thought I'd have my own business someday? Digital scrapbooking is the most fun I've had working ever. I get to play with graphics and layouts and colors...it's like arts & crafts time in school all day long, whenever I want! And it's a far cry from my first job (school janitor for 2 weeks!) as well as my last job (medical receptionist). It's been a long time coming, but it has certainly been worth the wait.
