Lisa's Story

Life My entire high school experience consists of 2 and 1/2 months of 10th grade. In that time I managed to get sent to the office for being a pain in the typing teacher's behind, cut class (hello hang out with friends or biology, you decide!), take extended lunches walking through the neighborhood (sometimes I even went back to school! see above reference to cutting class) and get pregnant (no fault of the school!) I was married for almost 5 years and 2 kids (Lewis and Rebekah) later we were divorced (while I am against divorce, this was necessary as I am also against murder, don't worry we're friends now) A few yrs later I married my best friend Rick and we are still married today (26 yrs) He raised my children (and me). Life is Good. We have 7 grandsons, I'm retired but not oppossed to working, my husband still makes me laugh, I'm healthy (although I could lose some weight), and we live comfortably. I have survived illnesses, financial hardships and all the things that come with 40 something years of living and raising a family BUT I am happy and I hope you are too. Now you can attribute my happiness to living and learning, maturing or having a positve outlook, but the truth is somewhere along the way someone share the "good news" with us and our lives were changed. We still live in the "real world" we just know a real God. Because this is about me, I included this. I won't say more unless you ask. School If you read the life bio you'll know it took me longer to type the bio than I spent in high school. Most of you I remember from Jr High School. I only have a few memories of high school. Typing Class: Got sent to the office for being a pain in the teacher's behind (Sorry teacher, you were right...I was a pain.) They didn't have enough typewriters for every student so I got a paper with the layout of the typewriter keys and I was supposed to follow along pretending to type (I still pretend to type, ha ha) Spanish Class: I'm still monolingual (much to my fathers dismay) PE Class: Loved the gym suit (altering it was a great means of self expression!) As far as the class went....hello I was pregnant, you can't do "tumbling and balance beams" pregnant. I got a pass...... Music Appreciation Class: The real appreciation for music came when I realized I was the only girl in the class with 17 guys! Yahoo. Thank you Fresno High A...Expand for more
dministration. I'm sure I had other classes like biology but I just don't remember them (my only regret there was not being in class long enough to protest the dissecting of frogs...not because I was an animal activist, I was just looking for an argument. Now I just fling them out of the pool into the neighbor's yard with the skimmer) College College?....what college?.......darn it! I knew I forgot to do something! Workplace While I may not have gone to school, I did work.....boy did I work. You may remember my parents owned a restaurant and I worked for them while in elementary school (slave drivers). I met my husband(s) (hey, what can I say there were two of them, I wouldn't recommend it but it happens), our children were dedicated there, all of our holidays were spent there, I grew up there. I even DJ'd there in the nightclub. (I know how embarrassing, but it was the 70's & 80's....like you never wore platform shoes!) I tried grooming dogs but then I remembered .......Oh ya, I don't like cleaning dogs. I worked as a waitress at Luigi's Italian restaurant. Man they had the best steak sandwiches in town. (is it lunch time yet?) but then it burned down. (Don't even ask....I was at home when the fire broke out.) I worked in the Tupperware distributors office for a while (OK, I sold it too, I know how embarrassing, but hey, I sold it to some of you and I was good at it. That's right I got the free station wagon! Cool huh?) Sadly enough (or not) that also came to an end. Eventually, I landed at WestAir/United Express Airlines where my job in purchasing was to find housing for flight crews when there flight schedules ended in a place other than their home base. That was a great job. Inspecting hotels (which means they really sucked up to you because they wanted your business), furnishing apts, (hello, who doesn't like to shop on someone elses money?) and maintaining company cars in the locations where we had apts and needed transportation for the crews to and from the airport. (until someone had the bright idea to purchase a fleet of Yugos .......yep that's right......Yugos) don't look at me, I didn't sign the purchase order! You haven't lived until you have driven a red Yugo from the airport in Eureka/Arcata to Fresno! Anyway there's more to tell but I'll have to do that later.....my fingers hurt.....remember typing class.....well I still struggle!
