Lisa's Story

Life I've lived in Seattle since 1979. I have just completed my PhD studies for nursing and health care informatics, at the University of Washington. I work part time as Psychiatric Mental Health ARNP at the Navos Inpatient Services. We are remodeling our home in Seattle's Central District, a house built in 1903 at the top of the original "skid road." Trees from our hill were "skid" down the hill to waterfront where they were milled and shipped away. We found lots of beautiful old growth fir behind the crumbling plaster. School CHHS i can barely remember it endless drill team practice lemon & peppermint for sore throat at foot ball games boys with long hair girls with long hair after game dances smoke on the water freebird mahogany game day decorations church wars cb radios. larry stark's beat up triumph getting fired by the dairy queen. spiked lemonade spiteful teenagers lou penn reading our palms during english. she said I wouldn't be an english teacher, I was going to do "something important." anita riley and susie duebeck explain algebra to me during library home room. I am dumbfounded by how simple it is. So that was what boatright was talking about day after day, year after year. cutting school for the last semester after I had enough credits to graduate due to mind numbing boredom College ETSU 1976-1978 fields and fields of parking the 16th floor of whitley hall the monster jade willie nelson in the cow pasture the week before my freshman year I ace algebra, trig, chemistry, physics, calculus. Who knew I could do these things? I am dumbfounded again. two semesters of swimming, two of bowling a toe sucking chemist with long red hair after my pre-pharmacy roommate a paper on graffiti a campus visit from Gene Roddenbery standing in line for hours waiting to register for classes changing major after I saw a guy drop a box of hundreds of computer punch cards driving country roads looking at...Expand for more
