Elizabeth's Story
My father transferred, so I left Olive 2nd semester of my Junior year. I moved to the Memphis, TN area and my high school class was now close to 400. It was culture shock! Thank goodness for the great church we joined where I found good friends.
I used my Central Vo-Tech training (graphic art and communications) in my first job during and out of high school. I worked for the local newspaper. I did the layouts for all of the ads and developed the B&W sports pictures. I liked it.
During my years at Memphis State (University of Memphis, now) I worked in the campus bookstore. That gave me opportunity to read all I wanted to. It was like being in a candy shop.
My major was Music Education, but I really had no aspirations. I had taught music classes for children in my church, so I thought I might try it in the schools. I did not finish my degree.
I met my husband, who happened to live only a few blocks from me, but went to a different high school and was going to a different college. Married in 1976. We have two sons and two grandsons, a grandson on the way, and two granddaughters so far.

mpany, as an inspirational book distributor, church secretary and dispatcher, but my main job was always wife and mother.
Eventually we made our way back to Oklahoma where we now live, within 20 minutes of my homeplace. My parents also moved back to their farm. My brother and sister also built houses on their farm.
We live rural and love it. I homeschooled my boys K-12 and I homeschooled my oldest grandson, who lives on our property, for 5 years. He is still being homeschooled at his home.
I organize a local homeschool support group, teach children at our church, the president of the local Gideon auxiliary and a member of the Oklahoma Southern Baptist Disaster Relief Team.
My husband has been a world traveler in telecommunications most of our marriage but is retired and we own a towing company. Our oldest son runs the towing company and has two boys and one girl. Our youngest son graduated from college in 2006 with a degree in Digital Media and Cinematography, came home from college and married a girl in our church! They have one girl and a boy on the way.
Life is good!
