Liz's Story
I have never found it easy to sum up what I have done with my life so far or even what I am doing right now with an easy description, so thus why bother trying. I can say I crammed at least 80 years of life into my first 30 years. By the time I was 32 I was ready for a break, so I laid low in Santa Fe for awhile, but then it is not easy to be invisible when everyone keeps noticing that I wasn't. Still I tried.
But then my restless spirit kicked in again and I found myself free from any personal or financial entanglements so I sold my house, quit my business, and packed up and moved back to the west coast. I was missing terribly water of any form, like ocean, rivers, rain, and missing the color of green (the only thing green in Santa Fe is the pinon and juniper trees and people's ga...Expand for more
rdens in the summer). Needless to say even the quaint look of the adobe buildings was getting old to me, let's be honest, it all just looks like mud after awhile.
So I am starting anew in a community that I knew very little about before I moved here to Portland Oregon. Still pretty much a stranger here even though I have been here now for about a year because I have been locking myself in my studio and painting in preparation of starting my new business soon.
My family is still in Tracy and the Bay area so I do get back to California when I can. Though I must say it kind of freaks me out when I see all the houses, 4-lane roads, and shopping centers in what use to be farm land. I can't get use to it and it is also so strange to find myself lost while driving around my home town.
