Liz (Tryon)'s Story
I married a fellow chemistry student from Houghton College; Dec 2010 we hit 30 years. We have twin boys age 22. I did "this and that" for many years, then went back to school to get a BA in Early Childhood Education and Human Development. I began to lose my hearing in the middle of that. I spent two years in a traditional preschool program, then moved over to a Montessori school that ...Expand for more
mainstreams deaf and hard of hearing children. I got one cochlear implant in 2006, then another in 2008. (Lindsey Wagner is my hero!)
As of June, 2010, I'm moving over again, this time from Montessori preschool to Montessori Alzheimer's care. I love how the Montessori philosophy dovetails with the growing "person-centered care" movement in elder care. It's going to be an adventure!
