Lloyd's Story

Life The path of life is very weird. You (meaning me) were (are, will be) a geek, and an unattractive one at that. In high school I was a mess. In college, I spent more time in bars than the classroom, until my life changed for the better. I became a youth pastor, working with a few different churches in Colorado, and then getting married and moving to southern California, and working with three more churches in eight years. Then came a son, a divorce, remarriage to a native socal girl with three kids, and then two of our own. Pam and I have been married 11 years and live in the Inland Empire, about 45 minutes east of Disneyland (every map here is measured in time, not distance) without any traffic, and a little over an hour to one of three beaches. I am finishing my degree to teach high school english. Pam is a nurse, and our kids are 25, 23, 18, 17, 10 and 8. I screwed up my knee playi...Expand for more
ng college baseball, and so now I just umpire and coach my kids. My wife and kids are my life. God has blessed me more than the few words I have left can express. I am enjoying college, even though most of the students are the same age as my kids, and even most of my profs are young enough to be my kids. I am very excited about teaching. Another ministry with a different focus. I am loving life. I look back (this only happens in my head, since between the move west and the divorce all my old h.s. stuff disappeared) and remember everyone I thought was smart, cool, nice, even funny and the main thing I know is that I don't have old friends. I am to blame. I keep hoping, reaching, but I wasn't a great friend. So today I am a straight shooter. My integrity is my most precious possession. I care about others, and spend much more time making the world better, instead of being a squirrely jerk.
