Lois's Story

My photo is from a cruise my husband and I took in 2008 called the Buckeye Cruise for Cancer. It benefited the Stephanie Spielman Fund for Breast Cancer Research at The James (OSU) We were with 2000 other Buckeye Faithful on a chartered trip. We are here with Mike Nugent and Simon Fraser (we' re the short ones on each side). The trip is happening again each Feb. You should all go. Since High School, I have had several careers, but have settled at The Ohio State University. I worked there many years ago and could kick myself for leaving public service as I would be that much closer to retirement. I manage grant funds for Cancer Researchers connected with the Comprehensive Cancer Center at the James. I met my husband skiing with the Columbus Ski Club. ried. We got married in 2001 and just celebrated our 8th anniversary. Since we met late in life and neither of us had any children, we live vicariously through friends children, nieces and nephews and soon their children, etc. We stay pretty active and love to travel. We went to Europe several years ago for a few weeks and want to go back as soon as we can. We snow ski usually out West somewhere most years. We got involved 12 years ago in an organization that provides recreational activities for persons with physical or developmental disabilities called TAASC. In the winter we teach skiing at Snow Trails. Sometimes in the summer we kayak with the group too. Both my husband, Rick, and I are ushers at OSU football games and of course are huge fans. We also love Columbus Blue Jackets hockey. Maybe next year they will go farther in the playoffs. Not much else to tell. Looking forward to seeing everyone at our 40th.
