Lois's Story

Life I have 4 beautiful children and 5 grandchildren, my youngest granddaughter was born on my birthday which I told my daughter was the best gift I could have ever received. I live in a townhouse with my cat, I just recently moved.I love to spoil the grandchildren and than I get to go home.I also like the fact that I have someone to get into trouble with and they enjoy the fact that grandma will do those fun things mom and dad won't my kids just shake their heads and call it bringing up mom. I always have a bag packed to be able to go on a minutes notice for a weekend or longer if I have the time off. I try to get to Springfield, Illinois at least once a year I fell in love with it years ago but only worked up the courage to travel there alone a few years ago and I have been going there at least once a year since, it helps that I have a couple of friends there also. Last summer I took my oldest granddaughter to Springfield she liked the trip but thought we should have driven everywhere but grandma believes in walking I still have feet and legs that work so I like to use them to keep them going.I am just about ready to become a tour guide there my friends told me the secret of getting around in Springfield and so far it has not failed me. I like to stay at the Route 66 hotel because of it's decor. This years trip has been put on hold as my oldest daughter is finally getting married and I am spending my summer vacation getting ready for that.I also like to go to Pennsylvania although it has been a few years since I have gotten there. I took my oldest son to Disney World when he was in his late 20's he lived in Florida at the time and I had a friend that worked at Disney so I had passes the most embarassing part of the day was when he went on the tower of terror and the park was closing the guard told me I had to leave and I told him I lost my son last time I had seen him he was in line and he said oh ok they finish the line before they close so I could wait. Well when he finally got off the ride and we were leaving here is the same guard and I said to my son he can't see me he thought my son was little (well I gave him that impression, my so...Expand for more
n had the car keys) I said you have to walk so he can't see me, my son is 6'4",and I really didnt want to be embarrassed. No wonder the kids call it bringing up Mom! I like to keep life interesting so there is very rarely a dull moment in my life. School I always liked highschool. I still think about the last day when everyone was running around to find their books to turn in because you never knew whose locker they ended up in. My locker being in the main hall always was piled high with books and of course you grabbed the first one for the class you were going to we never cared whose book it really was until the last day when you had to turn them in.I know I had to check out 4 lockers to find all of mine as did a lot of my friends. I still keep in touch with a few we are scattered about but still find time to chat now and again. I always like to hear from old friends so anyone who wants to chat just leave me an e-mail I will answer it I do try to check this site at least once a week. Well all highschool was fun and we are scattered but remember there is always room for friends old and new. College I went to ECC part-time for 7 years. I never did get a degree but did think about making it my lifes work. I enjoyed school especially the psychology. I was working full time and going to school I quit when I could not figure out exactly what I wanted from it and I figured I could always go back when I decided what I wanted to do and I may someday haven't made up my mind on that one. Workplace I started my working career as a cashier for Jewel and worked for them while in highschool and than after graduation I did take some time off to have my children and worked a variety of parttime jobs. My next full time job was as a nursing assistant at Alexian Brothers I was there for 11 years they phased my job out and I was working in the cashier office there when the opportunity came up to get into the Postal Service where I have been for the last 22 years. I finally got into the supervisors program and as of Feb 27 2009, when I graduated,I became a full time supervisor I am no longer working nights and I do believe I could get used to this day thing.
