Lois's Story
My story... hmmmm?
Went to SUNY Morrisville a short time where I picked up bad habit of smoking. Went to work at a couple of places & got married in 1970. Worked 34 yrs. at Ethan Allen furniture, in Boonville, NY as Personnel Assistant. Quit smoking back in the 1980's & took up eating. Still did my athletics but not enough to burn calories. Divorced in 1990. In 1997 diagnosed with breast cancer. Also remarried in 1997. No children, just dogs. Ethan Allen closed in 2004. Found another job as Administrative Asst., whew & yay, at FortisUS Energy in Lyons Falls, NY which has 4 hydroelectric sites. Have an ID card that says my "hip implant may activate a metal ...Expand for more
detection device", as of 2006. Other hip done 2010. Love riding my 4-wheeler, digging for old bottles, and using my metal detector. Did a couple of terms as a Port Leyden Village trustee. Like to do genealogy & going to camp. I'm grieving over the demolishment of RFA. Thank God for memories. Those were the good 'ole days!!! Semi-retired or PT as of July 2011. Good thing I like my job! Currently (2012) a member of the Town of Leyden Planning Board which didn't turn out to be as interesting as I thought. Both my parents have passed and the family home on N. James St. was sold in 2014. Tremendous void when I go to Rome. Very close to retiring altogether.
