Lona's Story

After Cody, went to Michigan State Univ. and obtained a Bacholar Degree in Mechanical Engineering and life experiences with politics as an activist against the war in Vietnam (and every war since then!). Went to work for Minnesota Mining and Manufactoring (3M) in St. Paul, MN as a project engineer. Over the next 36 years worked in the Abrasives Division, Speciality Films Division and lastly in Industial Minerals Division. I worked on designing building new equipment to make new products for each of these divisions. My last job was as a Plant Engineering Manager at a Quarry here in New Jersey. ope. In 2009 I retired. I was married to a wonderful man, Chris Zur for 32 years. He passed away from a tumor in his liver in 2007. For 30 years we raced a production car with the Sports Car of America. He built the car, I built the engines and drove it. With this hobby we traveled to many race tracks all over the US and had many many good friends. In 2006 we traded in the race car for 2 Appaloosa horses and took up a more relaxed life of trailriding. Today that is still my passion, and I ride both horses as much as I can. Currently I have my NJ home for sale, and I am hoping to be able to move back to Michigan (Bangor) to be near my sisters.
