Loretta's Story
After BHS I attended PGCC and loved it! I especially loved my art classes. Mostly concentrated on social sciences like psychology, sociology, anthropology. I then went on to graduate with a B.S. in Social Work. I moved to Ann Arbor in 1976 and worked at Bicycle Jim's a popular student restaurant and met my first husband there. I worked as a youth care worker at Girlstown for 6 months before I realized I was too young and led too sheltered a life to be any good to deliquent Detroit teenaged girls. I married in Nov 77 and we moved to Buffalo for a theater project with my husband's former professor. I really enjoyed Buffalo. I woked for a couple of different restaurants there. We then moved to Kent, OH so my husband could get his masters in Theater. I asst. managed a health club and had my first child, a daughter. When she was 1 1/2 we moved back to Ann Arbor.
There, I started a home daycare so I could be with my daughter. That was really fun!
When my daughter started school I had many different experiences... I ran a small ...Expand for more
sign shop, assistant costumed, nannied, runway modeled, co-hosted a children's radio show, assistant produced a radio talk show, wrote copy and did voice-overs, and gradually moved into radio ad sales for 6 years. Somewhere in there I also worked for The Ann Arbor News in the Composition Dept. (cut and paste). Working in the newsroom closely with editors was very exciting. Unfortunately, the paper closed a couple of years ago like many other newspapers around the country.
I met my present husband in 1990 and went from single mom w/ one child to married with 5 kids in 2 years...
At the present I have a 16 and 18 yr old at home. For the past two years I worked as an independent rep for an L.A. fashion designer. I am now the account manager for a local Internet-based TV station..
I miss all of my old high school, Jr. High and elementary school friends and of course old friends that didn't go to my schools but who I can find here. I hope we can all connect again.
