Life Hi Classmates! After college I went back to W.B. to teach high school English. Married a terrific "Brooklyn Boy" who was a Science Teacher and then a business owner. We live in East Islip, N.Y., and owned a carwash on the North Shore for 25 years. We also owned a party-supply business which I managed for 5 years. Mark and I sold the carwash 5 years ago and for the next 4 years of supposed "retirement" we were keeping busy by buying and renovating handyman special homes for resale. It was a lot of hard and often dirty work, but we got a sense of satisfaction from giving a home in poor conditon a great new life (the profit wasn't bad either!). Until the housing market collapse in 2006! After that we decided to REALLY retire :) Mark and I spend a lot of time in our backyard garden, tending our 500 dahlias as well as lots of other trees, plants and flowers. We are also officers in the Long Island Dahlia Society, and work as volunteers helping to maintain a dahlia display garden at the Bayard Cutting Arboretum in Great River/Oakdale. Mark is a master gardener, serving as a part time teacher for the Cornell University Cooperative Extension program, sharing his love of dahlias with the public. We also love the sunshine and the water. Mark is an avid offshore fisherman, so we have travelled to the Florida Keys, Guatemala, St. Lucia, Nassau, San Salvador, Hawaii and Alaska in pursuit of the big game fish. Costa Rica is next on the agenda this spring. We have three adult "kids" and one granddaughter who keep life interesting and very fulfilling!
