Judy's Story

Life Judith Ann Arras passed away Thursday, June 3, 2004, after a brief battle with Pancreatic Cancer, at the age of 63. Judy was born January 22, 1941 in Converse, Louisiana, to Andrew Wesley and Erma Lee Pennington. She married the love of her life, Bob Arras, in February, 1959. Judy was a very caring and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, friend to many, and a great lover of animals, especially her shadow ‘Annie’. Growing up, Judy spent most of her childhood years in Refugio, TX and was a 1959 graduate of Refugio High School. It was there that she met Bob, who was stationed in Beeville. Being a Navy wife, she had the privilege of traveling the world and residing in such places as the Philippines and Guam and has been a resident of Corpus Christi for the past 34 years. She is a former Executive Secretary of Padre Isles Investment Corporation and has spent the last 18 years working for Civil Service as the C-Flight Secretary for the Air Force Recruiting Office here in Corpus Christi. She was a recipient of many civilian awards through the Air Force and was highly respected for her professionalism by her colleagues. She is survived by her loving husband of 45 years, Charles Robert ‘Bob’ Arras, one son and daughter-in-law, Kevin Mark & Jamie Arras of Lacey, Washington, three daughters and sons-in-law, Debbie & Terry Cooper and Lori & Wayne Johnson, both of Corpus Christi, Texas, and Susan & Wesley White of Portland, Texas; 11 grandchildren, whom she loved dearly, Amanda (Danny) Artherholt, Crystal (Sean) McFarland, John Cooper, Randy Cooper, Bryan White, Jared White, Tyrel Arras, Kyle Arras, Allyson Arras, Emily Arras and Matthew Arras. She also had two great granddaughters, Laurna McFarland and Abigail Artherholt. Judy is also survived by two sisters and brothers-in-law, Dianne & John Jones of Hiawatha, Kansas, and Sue & Larry Talley of Mt. Vernon, Indiana, and one brother and sister-in-law, Donald & Charlene Pennington of Victoria, Texas; a sister-in-law, Helen Pennington of Hemphill, Texas, and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m., Monday, June 7, 2004 at Cage-Mills Funeral Directors, Everhart Chapel. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 8, 2004, St. Pius Catholic Church. Interment services will be at 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, June 9, 2004, at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, San Antonio, Texas. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to the M. D. Anderson Cancer Center or the American Cancer Society, in her honor.
