Lori's Story

Life What to say? I'm very thankful for the small town upbringing I had in Indiana, and truth be known I'd rather be living in some small country town today. Our family relocated in '85 to the Phoenix area of Arizona, and it is here I've managed to stay (so far). I finished high school here, and continued on to the collegiate path (BEAR DOWN RED&BLUE!! GO CATS!) made lifetime friends while at school/work, lived in various cities around the state, and have eventually returned full-cirlce to the Phoenix valley, where it all started. Of course, Indiana would be my "true" trip home, but I'm sure my blood has thinned, and I don't know if I'd survive a winter season back home! ha ha Those of you who knew me will remember I was always doodling and drawing, and my big love for animals. I have had (over the years) 9 cats, 1 dog, 1 rabbit, 4 goldfish, and 5 horses. The current household # is 12 and is affectionately referred to as "the zoo" (four of the horses, 7 of the cats, and the token fish). Sadly, in the past 2 yrs I've started to "lose" animals, including one of the horses, my dog, one of the cats, and 3 of my goldfish. After I lost one cat, a stray kittie found me and made my home his home. Shortly after he arrived I acquired the latest 3 horses, 2 of which are young-ins, so now I get to test my training skills. I never thought I'd see the day when I'd have a horse, let alone 4! But I am very thankful; they are wonderful teachers and continue to make me a better person. In addition to those I own, I've had horses come and go through roommates, and helping out friends and family with "temp housing" for their equine companions. Doc, Angel, Cricket, Sara, Kamala, Storm, Shoney, and April have all resided here at one point or another...I miss Kamala the most. My vet has been kind enough to let me "shadow" on both his horse farm and practice, and I am thoroughly enjoying myself. It can be long day...Expand for more
s and dusty clothes, but its where my heart is. That's me in a quick-cap. Between maintaining home/work I keep fairly busy, so its still "just me" but I do get to keep company with my friends' children and my pride/joy, my Goddaughter, Rebekah. I feel so very blessed to have all this on my plate. Looking back I have lots of fond memories of the friends I had growing up...and mere curiosity has me wondering where many of you are and what you're doing these days!? Thanks for trip down memory lane and look forward to hearing from you! Forever a Hoosier at heart-- Lori (and..Mesquite, Briquette, Bailey, Bart, Nadia, Rascal, and Smokey (cats); Kurt (fish), and Sienna, Bonnie, Snickers, and Molly (the horses)) RIP to: Buffy (Bunny), Snip. Cleo, and Golda (fish), John Cougar Mellencat, Tasha (dog) and Jacqui (Palomino Mare). School It boggles my mind that its been 20+ yrs since I left Indiana. I am lucky to be both a proud "fighting padre" but more close to my heart was my time spent as a EastNoble KNIGHT! Would love to hear from anyone I grew up with! Take care-- Lori Workplace They say hindsight is always 20/20... but I'm still in retail! I now work for the Big Red Bullseye of Target and absolutely LOVE this company! Aside from the traditional dispensing role of the pharmacy trade, I expanded my professional skills by becoming an Immunization Pharmacist a few years ago, and now, with Target I'm getting more involved with the "Legal" side of things. Besides requiring to make sure I keep myself up-to-date, it also includes regularly attending our State Board meetings, for which I get a free "lunch date" w/ my brother who works there! (No--he didn't join the pharmacy ranks; he's the computer guru or "Technological Hero" of the family!). With the new position, came a new practice site, closer to home, which allows me to spend more time with the things that are most important in life....family and friends.
