Lori's Story

hey everybody, Since I've left Palo Alto it was in 1975 , I left a year early before our graduation since my grandmother had a stroke. My father lived in southern california and my mom lived in San Francisco..and we stayed in Palo Alto, CA with my grandparents. When I look back at the times in Palo Alto, CA. I can think about all the friends I grew up with...and the fun I had. I had many friends. We went to many parties and met people from other high schools. I can think of Holly Caldwell, Becky Drake, Betsy Lee, Scott Lee, Julie, Rob, GaeAnne Marth,David Candaleria, Jeff Kelly, Kim Kelly, Dave Brown, Harry Hall, Heroshi Yoshida, Mike Lum,Angela Tennet her brother, a few others...I cannot remember their last names. Remeber the days after the parties and going to foothill park on a Sunday and playing freesbee or hiking in the park. How about skinny dipping at the quarry and sneaking over the fense at foothill. I heard about that...I wasn't there. I heard everybody got caught and was shot at by salt pelett gun. I remember all the girls..called themselves the butt sisters.. Betsy, Holly, Julie, Cori and Lori..becuase remember Average White Band? The bump? the dance? We made this up. And the days when Tower of Power was popular and we would go see them in concert. I remember we all went to this Stanford party..Rob Marth was there..and the guys playing pool..The girls was joking with the guys that went to Stanford..saying we went to college there...actually we were in high school still. They didn't believe we were lieing. We started to laugh. I remember going to the football games at Cubberley, watching all the jocks and cheerleaders..one friend that I know and saw recently,at Betsy's parents anniversary party. My Dad is retired with his wife and has 17 horses to care for and 4 dogs and its like a farm. My parents did dressage for competition and english riding. They won some ribbons however; now they just ride and find homes for unwanted, abandoned or pe...Expand for more
ople that don't have the money to feed their horses during the economy crises. At my fathers home in the morning, you can hear the Roosters call in the morning.(the sound reminds me of Guam when my twin lived there...guam is big on cock fights) Grandma passed in 1989 and grandpa in 2006. He was 14 years younger than my grandmother. They were young at heart. I didn't consider them old at all. (I guess since were almost getting there ourselves) I left a long message earlier about my mother passing a couple years ago in San Francisco and my sister and I we were going back and forth to see if her condition has improved however; she passed and the greiving has been a process. You know its strange that we grow up so quickly and now my sister is a grandmother, me a grand auntie and her daughter is grown up and has three children. My friends I've kept in touch however; we all have busy lives and I've seen pictures of them and their kids growing up..next thing I know is that their kids are out of high school and in college. (boy does time fly) I have a boyfriend of 9 years and I'm not married. about 10 years ago I did some traveling to micronesia, bali and figi and the hawaiian islands where my family is from. I plan to do some more traveling since work has slowed down. I am in the mortgage business and recently closed my office to reduce the overhead.. due to the lack of work and I am doing FHA loans and loan modifications, underwriting & negotiations to help people. I live near Laguna Beach, California and try to enjoy myself, go dinner, have a glass of wine and watch the sunset. Its the closest I can get to Hawaii without flying. Not as warm though. San Diego is an hour and half to two hours away depending on traffic going south. I enjoy listening to music from time to time...concerts and live music locally. My favorite is contemporary jazz, alternative music, blues, R & B, some hip hop and I watch American Idol...the new contestants...very good this year.
