Lori's Story
Updated 10/25/2021. Life has been good in Flagstaff, AZ, and I've lived here for 25 years now. I have something new to share - as of Oct 2020 - I'm fully retired now!! It's early retirement and I'm very happy about it. I'm planning on creating and selling art online, such as on Etsy, as a hobby or part-time job, so I"ll still be busy. I previously worked at Northern Arizona University in the Education Technology Consortium, where I worked as a help desk support specialist for Arizona K-12 school districts. We helped school staff with their student database systems and also made sure all their data was correct at the Arizona Department of Education. I still really miss San Diego and especially the beaches, but I also enjoy the mountains here in Flagstaff, the change in seasons, and the slower-paced lifestyle.
I have two daughters, 34 and 31 years old, and two grandchildren, one girl and one boy. My oldest daughter, Heather, lives in Flagstaff. She graduated from NAU (Northern Arizona University) with a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education. She's married and has two children, my grandkids, who really light up my life! My younger daughter, Nicole, graduated from NAU with a dual major - English and Philosophy, and has a M...Expand for more
asters in Philosophy from Colorado State Univ. She has a good marketing job and just moved from Phoenix to Seattle. Back in 2012, she lived in S Korea for a year, which she really loved, and taught English to elementary students.
Flagstaff is a good place to live. The elevation is 7,000 feet, so we have a wonderful change of seasons. We get snow in the winter, 100" average usually, which is balanced with a good amount of sunshine, and have a lot of pine trees, aspens, deer, elk, some antelope and bears. There is also a decent ski resort here which is on the San Francisco Peaks at 12600 feet. Since there is a university in Flagstaff, the city stays upbeat. My hobbies...I enjoy my family, church, playing keyboard, art, hiking, and reading. Let me tell you though - I never knew that children would be the best part of life (and grandchildren, too)!
