Lori's Story

Life After graduation I went straight to work and have been working ever since. I have a wonderful husband, Barry, that after 26 years of marriage still suprises me with his thoughtfulness and caring. My two children keep us running. Jack (16) is working towards his Eagle Scout rank and Heather (12) is always on the honor roll at school. The whole family is involved in the shooting sports (archery and shotgun) as a result Barry and I are both NRA certified Range Safety Officers and NAA certified Level II archery coaches. The kids participate in archery tournaments and have been doing quite well. Jack placed 11th in the world in his age group at the IBO World Championships in Snowshoe Mountian West Virginia in 2003. Heather took 2nd place for her age group at the SAM Indoor State Tournament and 3rd in her age group at the NAA JOAD Indoor National Regional Tournament. We have 1 dog Max that is Black Lab & Coon Hound mix. Most of our spare time is spent at the archery range or the Trap range at the sportsmen's club that we belong to, or at the archery club that we helped to start at the school. Barry and I both coach the kids involved in these classes(all the kids not just our own....rule #1 Don't coach your own kids). We are in the process of buying a new home with 3-5 acres so that the kids can have more room to run (the d...Expand for more
og too). We have looked at several but haven't found "IT" yet. Update 3/2009: Great news Jack is in DECA and has qualified for the international conference in California so we are busy getting him ready to go. The Archery in the schools program is growing we started with 16 kids and now have to cap it off at 150 kids. We have 75 kids that have qualified to go to the NASP National Tournament in Louisville, KY over Mother's Day weekend. Jack is starting his Eagle project this spring and hopes to achieve Eagle Scout before next Fall. I decided finally what I want to be when I grow up....I am currently taking classes at Lansing Community College to be an American Sign Language Interpreter....took me long enough <grin>. I have just under 2 years until I complete the program and get my certificate (to add to my degree). update 2013 Last October Barry and I started our own business and it has been growing by leaps and bounds. We have our business and are business partners with another person and run an archery school in Troy. The school is keeping us very busy as of today the only day we don't have archery classes at the school is Thursday. I have completed my sign language classes and I am working on a bachelors degree in written communication and will test for my interpreters certification as soon as my BA is complete.
