Life
hey everyone from class of "78". I'am a long way from home now- I live in Eugene oregon. I got my RN from nassau community, worked for a year and then went to buffalo university for my BSN. My parents moved to california so when i graduated from college i moved out too. loved it there. worked at a big teaching hospital UCI medical center ( orange county) in the surgical ICU, Er and recovery room. Met my husband , rick, in the Er in 1986. He is an ob/gyn physician. we got married in 1987 and moved to Eugene Oregon in 1989. He is from corvallis Oregon. I have three children, 2 girls and a boy,ages 20, 18, and 16. My oldest goes to oregon state university on a full merit tuition scholoarship for the animal science dept, (wants to be a large animal vet)its an hour away so I get to see her often. My 18 year old is applying to all schools back east. her #1 choice is Tufts in boston..we"ll see. She wants to go to medical school but study a lot of different things in college. My son is a freshman in HS and loving it. he's taller than me now-time does fly. He loves NYC too. I've taken them back to Ny a lot over the years + they love the city, the food , the buildings etc. i also have 3 dogs , 2 cats and a horse. stopped working as an RN when I had the kids but have been more than busy since. most of my immediate family lives in s. california now but I do go back to ny every year for one reason or another. I just went back in oct 08 for a madonna concert at madison square garden. It was a quick weekend but i always feel at home in ny= and love getting together with good friends!! My father now lives with us and is doing well at 89. I love to travel we have been to Europe,s. korea, Kenya Africa, India, Brazil - and toured the Amazon. Our Australian hot air balloon pilot in africa was married to a girl that grew up in merrick and went to calhoun HS - how wild is that! Recently we went to china(bejing) , Mongolia, Hong kong for our 20th anniversary (07) loved bejing,Mongolia was wild. was in hong kong for their version of july 4th amazing fireworks over the water. I like the mild weather on the west coast, Oregon is very green, But i sure do love it when i get a chance to get back to ny. stay well lori i'm going to be helpng my husband bring his medical ...Expand for more
research business to India. we know 2 physicians there that are going to be partners with us. wish us luck :).We got to go to new delhi + ambala City this summer (08)to speak to some dr's about doing research. MAN is it hot in july in india!! Very humid + over 100. Ambala was fun. Smaller town had some amazing home made food. Had a great time at the last reunion- great to see everyone. have happy holidays and avery happy new year....Yeah 2009!! update 1/1/2011. My oldest daughter graduates from college in june- which i CANT believe. she also applied to vet medical school and is awaiting results. she loves horses and i'm sure she will become a large animal vet someday. she has a boyfriend of 5 years - he's a loadmaster in the Air force. My middle daughter alexis is 20 and in europe as we speak. She loves to travel the world, like me :), she went on a college trip with her roommate and spent NY eve in paris.She changed her major to the Classics- which is the study of greek italian history and culture. she's looking at law school. needs to find an internship this summer. she likes the east coast better than the west coast. My son , Tyler , is 17 ( 18 in april ) he is a great kid and enjoying high school. was on the water polo team this year ( I cant believe how buff that sport makes you) he is also the stage manager for the theater dept and is looking forward to going to college out of state , he says east coast , I say maybe west coast :) cant have 2 kids on the east coast !! I am just busy with the fam + I help my husband with some of his business stuff. He is still practicing medicine ( Ob/GYN) but also owns a medical research business. They do pharmacy clinical trials. My Dad died this may - which was sad for us. He lived with us in oregon the last three years. Im going to Sicily this may for two weeks and explore my family heritage. Im trying to find some relatives there. everyone have a healthy + happy year !! lori. 2012 update : kids oldest jacquelyn 23 is in her 2 nd year of vet school at Oregon state univ, alexis 21 years old is a senior at holy cross college in worchestor ma + is applying to law schools, my son Tyler , 19 yo , is going to curry college in Milton ma / business . Technically empty nest but someone always seems to be home !
