Lori's Story

Life Wow...this is going to be a lot different than my FIRST bio I posted! I left the ministry I was involved in and my husband of 13 years in August 2003. I basically got burned out and the camp we were the admnistrators of literally sucked the life out of me. I moved back to Battle Creek and while I was living there had yet another life-changing event occur. My baby brother, Brett, was diagnosed with Leukemia and the docs told him he needed a bone marrow transplant asap. Some of you know how close Brett and I always were. Well, he already had three kids living in Florida, so he wanted to move down here to get the BMT and be close to his kids in case something happened. So we all moved down here in Feb. 04 to start the process of getting Brett well enough to get the transplant. Unfortunately, he never got well enough to have the surgery and died in June 04. I still can't believe he's gone and it has definitely left a huge hole in my heart and in my life. I am SOOOO glad I made the move with him and got to spend the last 5 months of his life with him. No regrets at all about moving to Florida. My son, Collin, moved down here in May 04, so he was with me through everything, living with me, Brett and his wife Tracy, and their 2 daughters, age 4 and 7. What a source of strength Collin was for me! We have gotten very close (again) after being virtual...Expand for more
ly separated when he went to high school in Marshall and I was living at the camp. Mom isn't so good these days....she had a stroke a couple of years ago, along with having brain cancer; and she just never really came back from all of that. She's quickly forgetting who I am, can't work any more, but is in fairly good health overall. My brother David still lives and works in Elkhart, Indiana. He's still married to his first wife and has 3 kids with her, along with one step-son. He's a true workaholic and I have to give Mary credit for sticking by him through the years. My oldest sister, Julie, turned out to be gay - surprise! She lives in Dallas and has had several long-term relationships that didn't work out. She got parkinson's disease a couple of years ago, but is being treated for it and seems to be doing just fine. My other sister, Roxanne, lives here in Florida about 10 mins from me, has been married to Roy (a wonderful African American man) for over 20 years. She has one daughter, Angela, who just turned 24 and lives here too. So...life goes on. Brett's wife Tracy took the girls and moved back to Indiana and Collin and I moved into a condo. We're enjoying each other's company, we party together, play pool, and of course, ride my Harley. I love my bike, love the biker lifestyle, and who could imagine? Wild Lori rides again!
