Lori's Story
I grew up on the corner of Rustic Lane and Opal st. age 0-18. Went to Rustic Lane Elem. Mission Jr. High and Rubidoux High for two years. Tom Lukas was my high school sweetheart until I met my knight in black armor, and went to continuation school and continued using speed, heroin, pot, acid and drank like it was water. I got married at 6 months pregnant, I was married 1 day left him. Had my son Buddy three months later than met the man of my dreams Kim when my son was 3 weeks old. Moved in together I continued to use drugs and drink had a premature baby boy born at 5 and a half months named Calahan, he was 890 grams at birth 13 in. long and his eyes were still fused shut like a kitten. I then was on the methadone program and that lasted 5 years then I switched back to speed. Lost my husband, my family split up and I kept using drugs. my mother bought me in hopes that I would stop using. I lived on 150.00 dollars food stamps and landed a job running a sober living house and did not pay rent but received a percentage of the house. Claimed bankruptcy went to school 5 days a week cleaned houses, pulled weeds, did yard work, picked up dog poop for extra money. I graduated went to work at CRC Prison on the men side for 1 1/2 years, then CIW the women's prison for 2 years plus. Now running two sober livings. working and still more studying for certs. In three years I bought the car of my dreams, have a family like I had never known could be possible, my first grand baby (Shorty)whom has never seen me high a saving and checking account with money in them. I have never bounced a check since being clean and sober nor been late on a bill. I love my job. In 5 years I bought the house of my dreams on my own. I have never in my life been held accountable for a thing, today I take accountability for my life.
