Okay, here is the cliff notes version of me, since high school. :o) I went to Radford U after high school. I spent 4 years there, doing a lot of partying and a very little bit of studying. Somehow, I managed to get a degree out of it all. (Three summers of summer school helped, I guess!). Anyway, I got a BA in Crimnial Justice. I had planned to work in either police work or corrections. The first job I got landed me in Richmond, at a youth group home. I fell in love with working with kids. So, I found my niche. I stayed there for 2 years. Then I got a job with the Department of Youth and Family Services (now Department of Juvenile Justice). I was working at Bon Air Juvenile Correctional Center. I spent 17 years there, doing many different jobs. I left there in 2005 as a sgt. I transferred to the Reception and Diagnostic Center, right next door. It's the intake facility, where all the kids come after they get committed to DJJ. Now I am an intake counselor, doing evaluations and such. So, 20 years later, I still love what I do. I do get bored with the same job after a few years and will do something different, but it always is in the same field. I guess I just have a heart for these types of kids.
