Shawn (Loring)'s Story
Sometime in the near future, "Loring" will become the second of four names I will have. As of 2015, I have unofficially adopted the name Shawn as a first name and will be making it a legal addition sometime soon. As I was named after my mother by my late father, adding the name Shawn would be adopting a masculine form of her middle name as well.. So in the near future, the name on this profile will become Shawn Begay. A lot of people I've met seem to think the name fits me too. Ironically, I would not have been cool if I were named "John" (too common), but am happy with the Irish derived versions of Sean/Shawn/Shaun/Shane, which were derived from the French name, Jean. In 2006, I was giving the name Shane serious thought too.
The name "Loring" means renowned warrior and is German in origin. It would probably be bad luck if I were to replace it as it has served me well. oing through surgery, chemo and radiation therapy that spring, I did OK for four years. In February 2010, the cancer reappeared again in my lower left lung this time. I spent three weeks in the hospital undergoing extensive diagnosis and multiple surgeries. I came out of the ordeal so well that it surprised my healthcare team. Once again, I had to undergo radiation therapy to the lungs and chemo. I got my hair back in 2011. I have been doing surprisingly well after being beat up like that.
Someone up there likes me as I have survived another serious life threatening condition, either a subdural hematoma or a hemorrhagic stroke caused by a two simple slip and falls in the shower in early June 2020. I could have been severely crippled, but seemingly have no ill-effects from the experience. I have nearly my full functionality as before, but gotta take it easy. I recently accepted a job with Retronix International as a contractor for the Intel Ocotillo campus in south Chandler. That put a lot of fight for me to get back to some sense of normalcy and I started walking unassisted and testing myself while in the ICU.
