Lorna's Story
Life
I live in University Place, Washington a city of about 30,000 people, located just outside of Tacoma. I was instrumental in the formation of our city and served on the city council from 1995 to 2010. While on the council I served as Mayor and Mayor-Pro Tem of the city. I am still active in city affairs as a member of the Historic Society and Friends of Homestead Park. I especially enjoy working to improve the Rhododendron gardens in the park.
I am married to Elmer Smith a retired Army officer. We have been married since May 1979. I was married for 22 years the first time to Robert Anderson (not the one from our class). I have three daughters and a step-son; 3 granddaughters and one grandson, a step-grandson, and one GREAT-grandson!

I am also very interested in genealogy and have been doing a lot of research on my family. I may be related to you if your family has been in America since the early days! I found that I am related to Eugene Skinner, the founder of Eugene!! What a surprise! It has been very interesting and enjoyable putting the pieces of the puzzle together. There are still more unsolved puzzles in my family history which keeps me going. The computer has been a great source for discovering lost relatives.
I attended our 60th class reunion and want those that worked on it to know how much it meant to have a gathering of the wonderful people that shared our youth and looking forward to our next get together!
