Lorraine's Story
Life: I did my "Life Story" to become certified as a foster parent and the condensed version was 23 pages! And that was over 10 years ago.
To keep it REALLY short, I have three grown kids, and I now have four grandchildren. I lived for over 20 years in Havelock, North Carolina, and I moved back to Elmira, NY in October 2003 to be near my grandkids. I miss Havleock / MCAS Cherry Point (North Carolina) like crazy, but I don't want to be over a days drive away from family. I still have family in Havelock, so if I get really desprate, I can go visit at least.
My youngest, Jennifer, just graduated - Dec 09 - from USC (Columbia SC) with a bachelors degree in Early Childhood Education. We really want her to move north, but she's stubborn. Her dream is to go home and teach first or second grade in or near Havelock.
To quick sum the last 25++ years.......I had the privlege of snatching people from the jaws of death for fun and profit for over 15 years in Havelock (meaning, I was an ER nurse and an EMT...n...Expand for more
o it is not like on TV). I got hurt at work in September of 2002 (turning a patient), and now I buy and sell used cheerleading uniforms (online of course). There is actually a decent market for those, believe it or not. So now I get to make friends from all over the world and help coaches maximize their uniform budget so they can take on more kids; PLUS actually make a little money in the end.
I took a nursing job again in April 07 as a telehealth nurse at AOMC in Elmira. In some ways, it's a snooze job after so many years in the field and ER, but I could wite a book on all the crazy stuff that comes across my desk, so in that way it's a little like EMS. Still, I DO really miss snatching people from the jaws of death.
I live alone with one dog & two cats and manage to keep busy between job, cheer uniforms and renovating the houses I have. But I am always really glad to hear from my old friends! So email me and let me know how you have been. I miss you.
Trusting Him in all things,
Lorraine
