Lorraine's Story
Life
My husband, Elmer Szabo, joined the Canadian Air Force in July 1962 from Fort William (Thunder Bay) Ontario. He went to St Jean, PQ for basic trg, then to Borden. Was posted to Calgary, then in Aug 1963 was posted to CFB Rockcliffe(Ottawa), National Defence, Constr & Eng Section as an AC2 Pte in the Air Force. By end of November he met this young lady (Lorraine Godard)(me) from the Cyrville area (Ottawa), working in the CE Section Orderly Room, asked me to accompany him to the section Xmas party taking place 14 Dec 63.We were married on 19 Sept 1964, and on 10 Oct 65 we had twins, a boy, John & a girl Joanne. On 31 Mar 71 we had a girl, Christine.
Our Pets
We have 2 budgies, called Snowhite and Angel.
Our Kids
On 22 Oct 88, Joanne (married Greg, now divorced) has 2 boys, Colin, born 11 Oct 89, Joshua born 28 May 96 and a girl, Sarah born 23 Jun 91. Colin has a daughter named Charlie who is now 3 yrs old.

On 25 Jun 94, Christine married Jamie Banyard from Orleans, ON. They have a boy, Nicholas born 9 Jun 97.
We are very proud grandparents of 4 grandsons, 2 granddaughters and 1 great granddaughter.
Jobs
Elmer, my husband retired from the military as a Chief Warrant Officer in 1990. When he first went to work for GAL Power Systems in Ottawa he was an EGS Tech (Electrical Generating Systems Technician), then Service Coordinator, working 4 days a week (semi retired). He retired for good end of Dec 2009 and enjoys retired life tremendously. After a while he decided to go back to work with the same company but only for 3 days a week, he gets a 4 day weekend all the time. Lorraine (I) worked for 18 yrs as Admin/Fin Assistant for Tech Svcs(TSO)(Transportation & Supply)at Uplands Site. I paid invoices, minor claims and did normal admin work like sorting mail and assisting the Chief Clerk of an orderly room. I am now retired with a 30 yr pension and just love it.
Most of our lives have been with the Military and we enjoyed it very much.
