Lorrie's Story
UPDATE 2009
Life is different!
Every time I think I've figured life out...it throws me another curve.
After many incarnations, I am now working as an Account Manager for a national credit card service provider. Interesting to be a tech nerd! Not at all what I thought I would ever do. Good news is I am using parts of my brain that haven't seen daylight before.
Since posting previously, many things have happened in my family. In 2002 we lost my Grandmother, Alice Deiss. Many of my friends considered her their second "Grandma". For those who didn't have grandparents, mine became theirs. My Mom takes care of my Grandfather (who is now 94). Allowing him to live in his beloved farm home of over 65 years.
In July of 2008 we lost my Father to Alzheimer's. We were blessed, as was he, that he didn't linger and suffer for many years. He was able to spend his last days at home. That was his wish.
To get you to this point....
After graduation I completed my Associates Degree in Advertising, Design and Production at Mohawk Valley Community College in Utica. After that is when LIFE began.
My dad (an IBM'r) was transferred to Austin, TX in 1980. I moved home and moved with them. In 1981 I fell through an attic floor frac...Expand for more
turing my back.
In 1998 - I moved back to the area. In between I worked for the State of Texas, got married, lived in Illinois, worked for Illinois State University - got divorced, etc.etc,etc.
The long and short of my life was spent looking for ways to avoid back surgery because of the fall. Having done so successfully, I moved back to the area and started NorthEastern Holistic, Inc., which publishes two magazines. In New York, The Holistic Resource, and Vermont a magazine called EverChanging - magazaines that promotes the integrative and alternative/holistic modalities that suceesfully helped me. My goal is to educate people to health care choices so they can make their own decisions regarding healthcare options.
I love being back in the area. I currently work out of my home. I have a wonderful 2 year old yellow lab named BOZ who makes sure I get exercise at least four times a week. And I get to appreciate time with my parents (yes, they moved back also) and my grandparents in Ouaquaga.
It's hard to put you life in a couple of paragraphs! I am still close with my family and try to stay in touch with friends I have made across the country over the years. I have found though that there is truly no place like home.
