Lou's Story

I moved permanently from San Bernardino 2 months after graduation to attend college (Biola University) where I graduated in 1970 with a degree in Business and then 3 years later getting my masters in Christian Education from Talbot Seminary. In 1971, I married 'the woman of my dreams' (Patti). 2 weeks after my graduation from Seminary, we moved from Southern Cal to Central Virginia where I began working in Christian School Admin. During our 5 year stay in Virginia, we began our family (3 girls - one adopted and 2 biological). IN 1978, we moved to Dayton Ohio where, for the next 9 years, I worked for Dayton Christian School as the director of Business Operations. Great years in Dayton! Our last child (a son!) was born there and we developed some great long term friendships. But in 1987, at the age of 38, through God's clear leading, I became the lead pastor of a Bible church in the snow-belt of NE Ohio (Jefferson) where, for the next 15 years, we served a great group of folk. Then, for the next 4 years, we served a church in Eastern Nebraska (Columbus) - where the peo...Expand for more
ple were great; the Plains were, well, "plain" (I missed the trees!); but the soil was the best in world (for my beloved garden). in 2006, we moved to where we presently live: NW Michigan, to the beautiful town of Traverse City where the annual snowfall is 150" (and I love it! Actually, it is snowing as type this - on my 68th birthday no less :). I now work with the Navigators, an interdenominational mission agency, in coaching pastors as well as conflict mediator for church leader teams. My hobbies include gardening; hiking; tennis and piano. Also, Michigan Wolverine Football (Go Blue!) though, on the professional end, I'm still a hopeless Dodger and Laker fan. Patti and I been blessed with 16 grandchildren (thankfully, they rarely show up to our house on the same day!), ranging in ages from 3 to 20. The one thing I am most grateful for is the decision I made at the age of 19 to give my life over to Jesus Christ and to follow Him. It has not been the 'easy' life but it has definitely been the most rewarding and fulfilling life I could ever have hoped to experience.
