Lou's Story

Life I moved from Portage in 1972 with my 4 kids. Went to beauty school, then worked the next 20 years doing hair etc.I was in Muskogee then.Met my now husband in 1991 married in 92 and moved to Ponca City,Ok. Just did odd jobs for a few years whenever I wanted to then got my job at Lowe's where I've been everything from a cashier to Department manager, been there for over 11 years. Live on a small 10 ac. farm, have horses, chickens, rabbits, cats, dogs, ducks and birds. I take in injured wild animals and fix them up like I always did when I was a kid. One of my old managers used to call me Ellie Mae cause of all my critters. I'm finally getting my house finished that we've been building for so long, moved in and loving it.I would love to see everyone, it would be great to get together. My first great grand daughter was born April 4, 2007.My oldest son had a new baby boy August 1st 2007,cutest little guy. Some of the younger guys at workare shocked to know I'm 58.They say I'm a grandma in a 20 year olds body. I m thinner than I was in school haven't gained a pound,in fact I've lost wieght. Just keep staying busy and work hard, always on the go,exceptwhen I'm sitting here telling all. Can't seem to find some of my old flames, you know who I mean,Floyd Brooks,or Wayne Hubbard, They were the greatest; don't know what ever happen to them. Wonder what hey are doing now. Workplace Work at Lowe's in Ponca City, have been there 11 years.Had to leave work last year, got injured and just had to give up. Of course everyone said they were going to work me to death and I didn't pay attention. I said the only way I was leaving is if they fired my ____ or dragged me out in a coffin, well, almost.I got injured bad enough that I can't work That really kills Me,a get up and dooer just got undid in one stupid bucking ladder. It's going on 2 years since I've worked, shur miss the customers and some of the people I 'm still tough enough not to give up, there's plenty of spunk left in this ole country gal.Ijust found out I have two more greatgrand babies on the way How's that for an update? Answers to story wizard. If I won $100 million, I'd give 1 million of it to aspca, then spend the rest on retirement, my kids and new car. My curr...Expand for more
ent age is 60. When I was 12, I thought that people my age now would be spunky like my dad. I was so completely wrong. Do I still dress like I did 10 or 20 years ago? Whats to change?Jeans are jeans and I still have a few things I wore in school that still fit. In 10 years, I hope to be alive. I'm going to get there by taking better care of myself. I hope my old friends remember me as someone they could talk to and trusted. I guess the wildest thing I did in school was kiss Floyd in the hallway and got caught by Mr Bulls. My hero was my Mother, she taught me work ethic that I passed down to my kids and she was loved by my friends so much that even after a break up my boyfriends would still go visit her. The teacher I would love to see again is Mrs Keammerer, she is the reason I stuck with it and graduated after things got really tuff. If I got one do over I would have studied harder and went to college. The thing I think would suprise everyone at my high school reunion is that my weight hasn't changed. My best childhood memories are built around the kids I grew up with in my neighborhood,Irene,Donna,Dennis,Jan, Mike and two special boyfriends I had Floyd and Wayne.I'll never forget the times we spent together the good and the rough. I have me a new horse,he is an cremello yearling, prettiest blue eyes you've ever seen,He sure is a spunky one.I call him Moonshine, he is 1/2 Mustang and 1/2 quarter horse. I'll get a pic of him and get it posted. UPDATE! No longer working, got messed up when a ladder bucked me off backward. That hurt! Ended up having to have back surgery and go on disability.Don't like that much but what can a person do when they can't work anymore. I'm still on the farm, wish I could see the lot of you all.Sometimes it doesn't seem possible that we graduated 45 years ago. Some things I remember like it was yesterday and some I wish I didn't . Well, not much of an update, but the best I can do for now.Update. Hubby and I had our 22 ann. today. He gets to retire this year finally! He has worked so hard for it and deserves to rest awhile, but not too long don't want him getting lazy on me. Still on the farm and saved and raised alot of wild birds this last spring and summer. Sure was a busy one.
