Loudene's Story
I always wanted to be a teacher when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was a good idea. As it turns out, they were right.
I like to garden. Water, plant, prune, dream.
The wildest thing I ever did in school (Henry T. Gage Junior High) was to produce & act in a Soupy Sales show imitation for a play.
If I'm going to work somewhere, I need to have control, quiet, and inspiration to be able to deal with the day-to-day.
My hero is Ghandi. He knew how to live.
I have lived in Bell, Huntington Park, Downey, La Mirada, Whittier, Stanton, Santa Ana, Costa Mesa, Garden Grove, Ontario, London, Orange, and Clovis. I may be leaving out a few cities. Why did I move? It always seemed to have something to do with looking for lower rent...or running to or away from something.
The one person from my past whom I'd most like to see again is Ed Davies, because I was "moonstruck" by him! I don't think he would even remember me. I had a few classes with him at North - but I think he was enamoured with Lynette! Long, surfer hair. She was so cute. Anyway - Ed - just know somebody thought you were boss the first time she laid eyes on you in the registration office in October of 1962!
My guilty pleasures are Operation Repo & FarmCrack...er...I mean FarmVille.
My biggest surprise was losing my husband on our wedding day. 27 years ago now.
I'd love to see my third grade teacher, Mr. Weisel, again. ...Expand for more
He looked something like John Hamm!
If I won $100 million, I'd give half of it to my brother, then spend the rest on pizza, plants and a makeover!
To be truly happy, I have to be right where I am - at home - sleeping or gardening - with kids...er...I mean cats.
My current age is 61. When I was 12, I thought that people my age now would be grandparents & wrinkled. I was half right.
My first crush was Richard Watson - whom I tackled & kissed under a table when we were in Kindergarten. I guess that started a pattern. (Never was good at waiting.) I don't know where he is today!
My best friend would tell you I'm fun-loving, but people who don't know me very well would probably describe me as quiet.
The weirdest job I ever had was in a dry cleaners. The owners were nuts!
I share my home with 8 cats, which I find entertaining.
If I could get one "do-over" - I'd wish my mom hadn't died when I was 11.
In 10 years, I hope to be richer. I'm going to get there by gambling (just kidding.)
Sally Gibbons-Callaham is my oldest friend. I think we both liked to laugh & had inspiring parents. I don't think I fully appreciated her til now.
My first job was at a music store, where I got paid $1.25/hour to wait on customers & organize & clean. What I remember most about it is the weird owners.
A childhood memory I'll never forget was staying overnight at the neighbors while my mom was having surgery.
