Louis's Story
Lou Garcia was born in the Bronx and moved to North Amityville when he was 3 years old. He has a BBA in Marketing from University of Cincinnati and an MBA in Finance & Marketing from Indiana University. He spent 30 years in various financial roles at mid-size to large companies, including Procter & Gamble, PepsiCo, and Avery Dennison.
He developed an interest in the wine industry in the late 1990's when he was still in Ohio, but California was still several years away. Unable to find a job in the wine industry because he did not have any experience, he and his wife, Jan, found a small winery and vineyard in El Dorado County of the Sierra Foothills. h the purchase of Stover Oaks Winery in January 2004.
Now with hands-on experience, Lou became Chief Financial Officer and General Manager of Frank Johnson Vineyards and Roshambo Winery in Healdsburg in 2005 and held this position four years while owning Stover Oaks. In July 2009, he became Controller and Chief Financial Officer for Hall Wines in St Helena. Even though he no longer owns the winery & vineyard property in El Dorado County, he still maintains the Stover Oaks brand.
Lou and Jan moved from the Napa, CA area to Niagara Falls, NY in late 2015 and then back to Shaker Heights, OH in September of 2017, where they lived for 15 years before going to California.
