Louise's Story
I have not changed my values or interests too much after I found them again. Married too young out of high school. Stayed until our 3 really wonderful children (2 girls and 1 boy)grew up, got their education, and moved out. Went to school, got a good job. eventually developed independent interests and began to enjoy life again. I met a former male classmate, and it was a wild ride. It felt good, was a lot of fun, and I thought falling in love and getting remarried again was right; however, bringing his outside interests and compromising values put a real strain into our marriage, Unfortunately, his lifelong depressio...Expand for more
n mixed with PTSD from Viet Nam lead to his suicide. A year later I reunited with someone I knew from many years ago who was also suffering the loss of a spouse and we grew close through our grief. I have found those things consistent in my life - family, church, and friends have helped keep me true to myself, and I have enjoyed getting together with old (can I say that?)friends, doing a little traveling, and the companionship has been the best. Being in our 70s, we decided companionship and common interests could be the basis for marriage, so we have it a shot in 2019. Love grew and so did a beautiful relationship.
