Life When I look back over my life, it appears I spent the first half of it trying to avoid being a pioneer like my ancestors, and the second half following in their footsteps. So, what have I pioneered? Oh, lots of things, but to date, my "Andy-Warhol-15-minutes-of-fame" was launching the homeschooling movement in Canada on national TV. And, although I didn't coin the word "homeschool", I was the first person to use "homschooling" in print, in an article for a back-to-the-land magazine. I had been a teacher/principal by profession, but my interest in homeschooling developed after I became a parent. The adventure caused way too much controversy in Manitoba, so I decided to move to Vancouver Island, BC where the climate was better -- speaking both of weather and schooling. I never looked back. Yes, I loved raising my kids on 20 acres of beautiful prairie bushland in rural Manitoba. But I absolutely adored raising them here in Paradise on the banks of a pristine mountain river.
