Luanne's Story

It has been too long to remember who I might have been back in 1974. Certainly I was young and ready to be out of school. I hadn't thought about my future and what I wanted from it only that I was ready for anything. I had several jobs before I met my future life. Nothing worth bragging about. Then in September of 1978, I met a man who would change everything and some of it was good and some of it wasn't. We married in June of 1979 and within half a year, we were living in San Antonio partly because he got a better job offer and partly to help us both grow up some, away from family influence. It didn't help. We moved back to Colorado, in with my parents and with me expecting our first. A few months before Jamison was born we moved to Broomfield and enjoyed being parents. The following year, we came into some money (my husbands father died), not much, but enough to buy a small house in Aurora, not far from Lowry Air Force Base. Remember Lowry? Two more children, Alaina and Spencer were born and still we found ourselves struggling to understand our roles in life. He was constantly trying to find that right job that would make him a lot of money as a programmer. And I tried hard to be a wife and mother without losing who I was as a creative individual (crafts). It was decided after my mother died in 1989, that should he find a job outside of Colorado, that we would move and move we did in 1993 when the Mississippi River decided it was time to flood. iler and sent that off to North Carolina. Then what was unable to fit in the trailer was placed in a U-Haul truck with our car hitched to the back. I said goodbye to my Dad and sisters and with my three kids, two dogs and a cat, drove three days to our new home. (Husband was already in NC). Sounds like a Country Western song. Since leaving Colorado we have lost my father (2002) and his mother the following year. My husbands health deteriorated in 2009 from Crohns Disease and now is disabled. All my children still live with us, much to my chagrin. My youngest son did move out for ten months with his girlfriend in tow and has recently moved back in with her and there soon to be baby (girl). My oldest works for Best Buy in the Geek Squad and my daughter doesn't work because she has Crohns. I work part time for Michael's on the Replenishment Team in other words, Sales Associate. What keeps me sane is digging into my family history which I have been doing since 2000 and have had my name used as reference for several families online and in genealogical books as well as Co-Host for the Decatur Co., KS genealogical site on USGENWEB . Crafts are still a big part of my life including quilting, sewing, painting, woodworking, cross-stitching and photography. (Had one of my photos featured in a local calendar). If you read this, by all means, drop me a line, lavynderatgreyfacedotcom. Would love to hear from y'all. P.S. I became a Grandmother for the first time on May 30, 2012 to Abigail M. Henthorn.
