Lucinda's Story
Life
I will be married 10 years this month! We still live in Aurora and I have now been in the same zip code for 35 years. I thought that only happened in small towns! My son Justin just started Middle school and that is an eye opening experience for all of us. He is playing Lacrosse and wants to go in the Army when he grows up. For fun we like to bike, ski, walk our dogs and go out to eat. We didn't have a summer vactation this year, but we love to spend time outdoors and especially enjoy the beautiful mountains of Colorado.
College
After graduation I went to one year at Ft. Lewis in Durango. I loved the school, but decided to join the Navy Reserves so that changed the course of history for me. I received my Associates from Arapahoe Community College in 1992 and worked for 9 years as a Medical Lab Tech. In 2001 I graduated from Metro State with a degree in Healthcare management and became Lab Supervisor. I finished my MBA in 2006 and suffered my first layoff. Funny how things work like that! Workplace
I am currently working as the Center Administrator for ClearChoice Dental Implant Center in the Denver Tech Center. It has been quite an adjustment moving from the medical laboratory world to the dental industry. I am enjoying the challenges and opportunities this career change has presented and I am finally putting my MBA to the tests. Prior to this position I worked for The Medical Center of Aurora and Centennial Medical plaza for 9 years.
Military
During my tenure in the Navy Reserves I met a lot of people and made friends that I would have never met otherwise. I was able to travel to several parts of the country including Washington State and Hawaii. I also got some priveldges like riding in a submarine, touring a couple of aircraft carriers and visiting DisneyLand for free. This is where I came out of my shell and learned to be a leader. The Navy Reserves changed my life in only positive ways and I can only thank my friend Tamara for convincing me to try it.
