Lucinda's Story

I am currently living in Tualatin, OR. I have lived in Oregon since 1969. My first husband and I divorced after the death of our son Brian who died of leukemia at the age of 14 months. I met and married my current husband Dan two and a half years later and we have been happily married for 39 years. I quit working in 1999 and retired from the State of Oregon in 2004. I was with the state for 22 years and for 17 of those years served as the Executive Director of the Oregon State Mortuary and Cemetery Board, an 11 member Board responsible for licensing and regulating the funeral and cemetery industries. I had a staff of five including an inspector, an investigator, and clerical and licensing staff. The investigative staff traveled the state investigating complaints and doing compliance inspections. My husband retired in 1999 from Intel Corp. He was tired of all the international travel and we wanted to spend more time together. Art was always my ...Expand for more
passion and in retirement I have become a professional artist. I regularly show and sell my paintings. I also sell prints of my original paintings. I especially love painting people, animals and flowers. My husband and I have done a lot of animal rescue work over the past 36 years and together have rescued, cared for, and found homes for more than 200 stray animals. We currently share our lives with six of these recues. In addition to animal rescue by other passions include: Fitness (weight training and cycling are my favorite) gardening and spending time with friends and family. I have three wonderful step children (a stepson and two stepdaughters) who are grown with families of their own and doing well. Two of them live locally and one resides in California. We have two grandchildren. We feel very fortunate. My mother is still living and lives close by. My father passed in 1981. I hope this finds anyone who reads this happy and well.
