I took a whole lot of guff during high school for dating the captain of the Newport High basketball team, Kent Gibson (he was 4 years older than we were ;-)...he and I continued to date even after he went to college in Portland and my family moved to Bend the summer of '78. After dating for 2 1/2 years we had a hard break up and I leapt off the deep end, got married to a guy from Bend on the rebound, (graduated 1 1/2 years early BTW) and he joined the Army and we had a daughter together. After moving around from a few Army posts, we ended up in Tacoma WA at Ft Lewis. By the time I was 22 I had been married for almost 5 yrs and was an Army widow (tragic death, what a bummer!). I continued to live in Tacoma, near Ft Lewis, and got on with my life.
